Tzaadi provided usability analysis supporting the site redesign for VoiceEclipse, a Chicago-based VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) vendor. This was a significant project because the company was changing from catering exclusively to an engineering market to a retail one. It was also significant that the usability analysis and redesign had to be completed within 30 days.

Usability is important for a website’s survival. It identifies and seeks to improve how a user interacts with a website or application. Items such as ease of use, color choices and user efficiency are its hallmarks. Without good usability, customers will leave a website quickly for the competition.

Specific usability items covered in the Voice Eclipse project were:

  • Developing retail-oriented menu functions
  • Rewriting existing text for the consumer marketplace rather than for engineers
  • Adding design elements to clearly state service coverage (US and Puerto Rico)
  • Redesigning the table of international rates to be more functional and easier to use
  • Improving error-reporting and error handling, including recovery
  • Selecting new color choices for the mass market
  • Embedding sales oriented marketing messages in the text and the design
